Colonel Edwin Waller, Jr.
At
Michael J. Martin's blog he put together a nice account of an engagement at St. Charles Court House on September 8, 1862 between Waller's 13th Texas Cavalry Battalion and various regiments of "Beast" Butler's army. It provides a very good account of the engagement with several primary accounts of the action. Also, Martin provides good background information on the formation and condition of Waller's 13th Cavalry.

Interesting. I didn't know Michael had a blog. Stuart, have you read Spurlin's "West of the Mississippi With Waller’s 13th Texas Cavalry Battalion, CSA,"? Can't say I've come across a copy of that one, given that it seems to go for over $200 these days.
ReplyDeleteDrew, no I have not. Mr. Martin refers to it several times in his work. I WOULD like to read Spurlin's book though!
